Home Caregivers

Referrals of In Home Caregivers

IC Nursing Services refers independent licensed, certified, and credentialed caregivers who provide services within the comfort of one's home, assisting with daily living activities or managing complex medical conditions. Referral services are available 24/7. Independent caregivers available for referral to provide in-home care services include RNs, LPNs, CNAs, HHAs, Companions, and Homemakers.

Services provided by referred caregivers include simple homemaking tasks such as meal preparation, light housekeeping, transportation, medication reminders, prescription pick-up, or companionship. These tasks can be carried out by independent Homemakers, Companions, Certified Nursing Assistants, or Home Health Aides.

Hands-on assistance with daily activities may involve dressing, bathing, transferring, mobility support, or therapeutic exercises, typically performed by Certified Nursing Assistants or Home Health Aides. More complex medical situations may require RNs or LPNs to monitor or assess a client's condition, administer medication, or provide wound care management.

Types of Services that Independent In-Home Care Providers Can Offer:

Personal Care: These services support the functionally impaired elderly with bathing, dressing, mobility, housekeeping, eating, supervision of self-administered medications, shopping assistance, transportation, accompanying clients to clinics or doctor's offices, transfers, personal hygiene, and toileting. Certified Nursing Assistants and Home Health Aides commonly perform these services.

Respite Care: Respite care services are similar to personal care services but are intended to give relief to the primary caregiver, usually a family member. CNAs or HHAs typically provide these services. If the care involves only housekeeping, transportation, companionship, or chores, a Companion or Homemaker can perform these tasks. However, for more complex medical care, an LPN or RN may be required.

Homemaker Services or Chore Services: These include specific home management duties such as housekeeping, laundry, cleaning refrigerators, minor home repairs, sewing, transportation, meal planning and preparation, and shopping assistance. Companion or Homemaker caregivers typically perform these tasks. If a client's condition requires a caregiver with the assessment skills to determine when hands-on attention is needed, a CNA or HHA may be necessary.

Companion Services: These services focus on visiting clients who are socially or geographically isolated, providing companionship to relieve loneliness and promote social interaction. Transportation may be included. Homemakers or Companions commonly provide this service.
